Estate Planning is only for the rich, right?!

I don’t have an ESTATE, so this business of “estate planning” doesn’t apply to me.

If the word “estate” conjures in your mind a palatial home, perhaps with a glistening swimming pool and stables of thoroughbred horses behind it, you’re not alone! The reality, however, is that each of us has an “estate” in the legal sense, regardless of our wealth (or lack of it). In fact, it’s families who are not particularly well off financially that need estate planning the most! Think about it - if you’re not living a cushy lifestyle with lots of extra money in the bank, your family probably can’t afford for your assets to be tied up in Probate Court for months (potentially years) after you pass, nor can they afford the costs associated with that process. In other words, perhaps you foresee having only modest assets to leave for your family or other beneficiaries. OK, wouldn’t you prefer that they get the entirety of that, and that they have access to it quickly? As my mentor reminds us, the cost of not planning ahead is too great to your family.

Do what you’ve always done - take care of your family. Get your estate plans done now so that your family won’t have to deal with the delay, cost, and conflict that too often occurs when people die or become incapacitated without getting their affairs in order. We can walk you through the process and ask the right questions so that together we can design a plan that accomplishes your objectives.
